Foundation Degree in Football Coaching and Development

Football is a multi-million pound business and in order to achieve success, players need knowledgeable and experienced coaches. The two-year Foundation Degree in Football Coaching and Development is aimed at aspiring football coaches and development officers and has been developed in consultation with our key partner Welsh Football Trust to provide you with a unique learning experience. The course will enable you to apply knowledge and skills in the field through a well-established work-based learning programme – this includes both paid and voluntary placements with professional football clubs, National Governing Bodies and professional soccer organisations in the UK and USA.

Another strong element is work-based learning, including football coaching, football development and fitness testing with elite young players. You have the opportunity to gain vocational skills with a comprehensive work placement module embedded in year two where you can gain employability and coaching skills and applied knowledge of football development. Upon successful completion of the course, you can choose to graduate with your Foundation Degree, or study for one further year and graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Football Coaching, Development and Administration – Top Up. Students also have the option of completing their top-up year in the USA.
