Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing

The accredited CIM qualifications available at the University of South Wales are for those looking to acquire professional recognition whilst gaining both practical and strategic marketing skills and knowledge. The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Professional Diploma has been designed for mid-level marketers looking to acquire professional recognition whilst gaining both practical and strategic marketing skills. The CIM course attracts students from a variety of sectors including private, public, tourism, retail, education and business to business (B2B).

You will study two core compulsory modules and one optional module from a choice of two:

Core Compulsory Modules:

  • Strategic Marketing
  • Mastering Metrics

Optional Modules:

  • Digital Strategy or Driving Innovation

Teaching

Teaching sessions are designed to allow students to engage in regular group discussions about the marketing activity and strategy of their respective organisations. This creates an excellent thinking space for students to acquire new ideas and share good practice.

Placements

Students have the opportunity to mix with a wide range of people from many backgrounds, as we recruit students from public, private, voluntary and charity sectors. There are excellent opportunities to share best practice and get ideas and inspiration from colleagues.

Students may also have many opportunities to attend CIM events throughout Wales, some of which are free to attend as student members and all of which contribute to CPD.

You must have at least one of the following:

  • Any business or marketing Bachelors or Masters degree (or equivalent) where a minimum of one third of the credits come from marketing, ie, 120 credits in Bachelors degrees or 60 credits in Masters degrees; or
  • Experience in a marketing management role that has provided knowledge and competence equivalent to the learning outcomes of the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing (sufficient to pass the entry test to Level 6)

Additional Costs

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed below. Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense.

As a USW student, you will have access to advice from the Careers and Employability Service throughout your studies and after you graduate.

This includes: one-to-one appointments from faculty based Career Advisers, in person, over the phone or even on Skype and through email via the "Ask a Question" service. We also have extensive online resources for help with considering your career options and presenting yourself well to employers.
