The CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) Professional Certificate is a Level 4 qualification that has been designed for junior marketers who want to gain knowledge in the basics of marketing. This part-time CIM qualification is for marketers looking to acquire professional recognition whilst gaining both practical and strategic marketing skills and knowledge. It also provides an understanding of tactical considerations which will help students progress their careers in marketing.
The University of South Wales is a CIM-accredited study centre, and our pass rates consistently exceed the national average. We have achieved accolades and continually receive positive feedback from students, employers and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. If you are interested in studying this qualification, please contact our Commercial Services team for an initial discussion.
You will study two core compulsory modules and one optional module from a choice of two:
Students are provided with a range of learning materials which are available 24/7 on line. They will be required to read ahead and during the workshop sessions to apply to given contexts and scenarios. The application of current marketing practice to different marketing situations is used to build understanding of best practice, which is then applied to the students’ own organisation.
The compulsory Marketing module is assessed by an examination. All other modules are assessed through work based projects on the students’ own organisation.
Students have the opportunity to mix with a wide range of people from many backgrounds, as we recruit students from public, private, voluntary and charity sectors. There are excellent opportunities to share best practice and get ideas and inspiration from colleagues.
Students may also have many opportunities to attend CIM events throughout Wales, some of which are free to attend as student members and all of which contribute to CPD.
A minimum of two A-levels are required. Any general Bachelors or Masters degree is acceptable Alternatively, students may possess equivalent qualifications such as:
*CIM Introductory Certificate (Level 2 or 3 versions will be accepted)
*NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Marketing (equivalent to NQF Level 3)
*NVQ/SVQ Level 4 in any other subject (UK) (equivalent to NQF Level 4 and above)
*International Baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above)
