As the holder of a degree in engineering, you can enhance your career development by establishing a broad knowledge of contemporary management. The MSc Engineering Management offers a detailed exploration of the theory and practice of key areas, which is ideal if you have a practical engineering background and are interested or active in management roles in the private or public sector.

There is a varied lecture and seminar programme, with extensive group work, case studies and guest speakers from a range of backgrounds.
Assessment is through coursework-based assignments. The final assessment is a dissertation, in which you will examine an area of management that is of particular interest to you, or a company-based project. The subject of this dissertation must be engineering management.
To be admitted for the MSc Engineering Management course, candidates will normally be required to have a minimum UK 2nd class honours degree or recognised international equivalent qualification in an engineering related subject. Relevant work experience can also be taken into account and all applicants would be considered on an individual basis.
In all cases, the University will satisfy itself that a candidate is of the required academic standard to complete the programme of study proposed and is able to meet University’s English Language requirements. English language requirements for international students are a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall or equivalent TOEFL score, or other evidence of English language abilities at this level.
All fees are per year. Once you have started your course, your fee will remain the same for each year of study.
Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed below. Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. This course will provide you with the ability to see businesses holistically and the knowledge to successfully lead and manage in an engineering context. You will also have the opportunity to develop wider knowledge, skills, and understanding of management theory and practice, relevant to you and your organisation.
Studying the MSc Engineering Management will give those with some management experience the opportunity to put their organisational leadership practice into context. It will enhance the prospects of leaders and managers from the engineering sector, and help you take advantage of future career opportunities.
